Holiday Get Together with some Performance!

December 29, 2010
First want to say thank you for eveyone who came to our Holiday Open House Party on Tuesday evening 12/21/2010.  After we had some rehearsal times the StarCross Kidet Drum Line began to show off it's hard work with a demonstration of their skills that they have learned so far.  After the Drum Line, The Kidet Horn Line played several tunes including the Marines Hymn. Roger Exposito and staff have done a great job working with these young musicians.

We all then filtered into the gym of Calypso Elementary and saw two performances, the first performance was of the StarCross Kidet Color Guard with ages from 4-10 years old.  They are under the Direction of Miss Christine Gallagher who is doing a great job with the Kidet Color Guard.  They are performing to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" from the Lion King Musical.  They will debut for the first time on Sunday 2/6 at Emmaus High School, Emmaus PA. the Kidet Color Guard did a great job and showed great enthusiasm as they performed.

We were then treated to a performance from the StarCross Indoor Color Guard.  This guard ranges in age from 14-20 and will be competing in the Tournament Indoor Drill Association as a Novice "A" Guard.  This is the second full season for the StarCross Indoor Color Guard as in their first season won the TIA Chapter 2 Novice "A" Guard Silver Medal.

2011 should prove to be an exciting year for the Indoor Color Guard as they will be performing to the music of Moulin Rouge, the song is El Tango de Roxanne.  The Novice "A" Guard is under the Direction of W. Ron Cowart and Miss Michele Lynch is their instructor assisted by W. Ron Cowart, The Rifle line this season is instructed by Molly and Kyla Kutz.  Both Molly & Kyla will be graduating from Northampton High School in 2011.

After the performance were completed, 2011 T-Shirts were handed out to both the Kidet Drum Corps, Kidet Color Guard and the Novice "A" Color Guard and went to the Cafeteria and enjoyed some holiday treats.

Best of luck to all in 2011

StarCross Indoor Guard First Rehearsal Brings New Beginnings

August 30, 2010
StarCross Indoor Guard First Rehearsal Brings New Beginnings
It was an amazing site Sunday morning to see 16 young men & women as they came to perform at the StarCross Indoor Color Guard opening rehearsal for the 2010-2011 season.  The performers were focused, and ready to work.  I credit my design team for keeping the performers moving and spinning for the entire six hour camp.  Thanks to Franko Robinson, Michele Lynch & Nellie Youn for their hard work and dedication to these performers and this activity!

The performers brought to the table a full level of experience, from the very beginnings to seasoned veterans who were all striving for excellence.  Since we have no auditions and no cuts, we give everyone who comes to StarCross and equal opportunity for success and to perform.

The squad of 16 went through the very basics of the activity, working on one goal of creating a style all their own and working at a professional level.

We also had a parent/guardian meeting which had a few parents, in which myself, Roger Exposito (Executive Director) Nadia Cornier (Board President) & Bob Mucha (Treasurer) spoke to the parents about the philosophy of the StarCross Youth Performing Arts, Inc, and the standards in which we hold the parents in high esteem and we are looking forward to their support in the future, not only for their indoor color guard programs, but for the other organization within StarCross.  I've also asked a parent and friend Karen Kutz to be the representative parent Laison between the indoor guard parents and the Board of Directors of StarCross.  Karen will be working directly with me with regards to the fundraising activities within the Indoor Color Guard.

I can say, without hesitation, that this opening indoor guard rehearsal was the best opening day I have experienced in the 30 plus years I've been an instructor Director of any indoor guard program I had been involved with before.  We are still actively recruiting for the Indoor Color Guard, and we are striving for excellence as we move forward in 2011.

Thank you to ALL of you who made this day possible, I also thank my Wife Donna, though she was in the hospital, and I had gone to see her throughout the day on Sunday, she wanted to make sure that my day with StarCross was a successful one.  And oh yes, I did bring my wife home on Sunday afternoon, she is fine and doing well.  Thank you for all who sent their best wishes for my family!

I look forward to the next camp on Sunday September 26th
